Our churches and parish Hall
St James is a church for all ages. It offers a variety of services from fairly traditional to more informal and everyone is welcome. The main Sunday service is held at 10:00am and the congregation is encouraged to stay on for refreshments afterwards. St James is also the location of ‘Wild Church’ which is held outside and is particularly aimed at families with younger children.
The church uses audio visual equipment instead of books for many of its services and it has a small creche at the back of the church which is open during worship. When the church is not being used for services it is open to the public on Wednesdays, usually between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
St Thomas à Becket
The style of worship is traditional, in keeping with the remarkable age and history of the building. The main Sunday service is held at 11:00am: we continue to use the Book of Common Prayer and our hymns are from ‘Hymns Ancient & Modern, New Standard’. Evensong is held at St Thomas à Becket once a month on the 3rd Sunday at 6:30pm.
The worship calendar includes several special services which are very popular with the wider community. These include Services of Memories, the Christmas Carol Service, and the annual Sea Sunday Service.
The church is a popular choice for baptisms, weddings, and funerals but when it is not being used for services or events it is open to the public, usually between 10:00am and 4:00pm.
Our Parish Hall could be just what you are looking for to host your next event: with a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of tables & chairs, a sprung wooden floor, and a capacity of up to 100 people it is a remarkably flexible space.
The hall is available to hire for regular meetings and one-off events such as parties and wedding receptions.
