Men’s Group

‘E-men’ offers a regular opportunity for men of all ages and backgrounds to get together. We have two streams of activity: Brain Food – discussions applying Christian faith to everyday issues, meeting in the Church Office on monthly Friday evenings. And also Just Playing – social activities including breakfasts, barbeques, and skittles! For more information contact our Curate.

Schools Work

We have extensive involvement with all our local schools, taking regular assemblies at St. James’ Primary and also Emsworth Primary and Glenwood Secondary Schools. Classes and year groups also come on visits to the church as part of their RE syllabus, and we host whole-school services for each of the schools at special times of the year.

St. James’ Church School Since 1863 the ‘church’ school has been strongly connected with St. James’. These links are still maintained into the 21st Century with clergy taking school collective worship, and supporting teachers in the delivery of religious education.  Several church members are Governors and help in classes as Volunteers.

The Pastoral Centre

is a Café based in the Methodist Church in the Square, offering welcome, friendship and refreshment to the local community. The Pastoral Centre is staffed by volunteers from all the Emsworth Churches. New volunteers and supporters are always welcome.  For more information, please telephone 01243 373773.

Mothers’ Union

Our branch is part of the worldwide organisation dedicated to supporting marriage and Christian   family life, taking part in many projects to help those in need.   Members meet twice a month, on the first Thursday at 10am in St. James’ for Holy Communion and at 2pm on the third Thursday in the Parish Hall with  speakers and for friendship and fellowship. For details, please contact MU.

Running Free

Our colour monthly magazine is packed with articles and stories about faith, news items and details of all upcoming activities. Considered one of the best in the Diocese, it is available in both churches on Sundays or midweek when the churches are open for you to visit.

Social events

Look out for a wide range of social events throughout the year including lunches, concerts, community events, the Auction, churchyard teas and quiz evenings.

Open churches

Both of our churches are open during the week for you to visit and find peace. As well as being buildings of interest for the visitor, there is the opportunity to light a candle and be still. Prayer cards are available if you would find that helpful.

Warblington Teas

Throughout the summer, teas are served every weekend in Warblington Churchyard. Set in beautiful and historic surroundings, this is an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the location
