Pilgrimage to Canterbury

Parish coach pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral.

Date and time: Tuesday 27 October all day.

Pick up point: The car park in Bridge Road PO10 7DT

Description: This is a unique chance to retrace the steps that thousands of pilgrims have made to Canterbury from this area, with an opportunity to visit the Cathedral and the site of St. Thomas’ martyrdom. The visit will include a guided tour of the Cathedral and a very special opportunity to hold our own pilgrims’ service in one of the chapels there. The event is open to all parishioners and will include return travel by coach, entrance to the Cathedral and guided tour, our own private pilgrims’ service led by Julie and Andrew and a 2-course lunch at the Canterbury Lodge Hotel. Departure from Emsworth will be at 08.00 and return from Canterbury at approximately 17.00 arriving back in Emsworth around 20.30.

Tickets: The cost of the pilgrimage will be in the region of £52 per person, to include all the above, except for drinks with lunch.

Refreshments: Two course lunch included as above. There will be a stop for a short comfort break at Clacket Lane services both ways. It is recommended to bring your own snacks for the journey.

Accessibility and constraints: Bridge Road car park is free and is relatively empty until about 8.00am after which it starts to fill. We recommend that you share cars to reach the car park. Pay parking is also available in Palmers Road off North Street [5-minute walk], and in South Street near The Coal Exchange pub [10-minute walk]. The coach will have a toilet onboard. Numbers are limited to 53.
